Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mostafa Jabbar has assured to allow legitimate internet service providers to provide active sharing in the last mile, warning that there will be no bullying accepted in providing internet services. "It simply came to our notice then. Hopefully, I will be able to reach a positive conclusion on the issue of active sharing (Last Mile Active Sharing) by discussing with the regulatory body BTRC. However, you should not use hanging cables (overhead cable) in internet services. The cable lines for internet services will go under-ground. Then you will get several times more durability than overhead cables. Your city will look beautiful too.” The minister made the assurance at the inaugural function of ISPB's networking LAB and workshop at Hotel Cox Today on Friday (May 27). In his welcome address, ISPAB Secretary General Nazmul Karim Bhuiyan demanded the benefits of last mile cable active sharing to take the path of sustainable fast and uninterrupted network service to the grassroots. Speaking as the chief guest, the minister further said that internet means broadband. Because, the mobile operators are not even close to the bandwidth that you offer. And for this reason, there will be ‘one country, one rate’, so that ISPs and mobile operators can get bandwidth from IIG at the same price. The Minister further said that IIG licenses are valid till 2027. I am making arrangements so that you do not have to endure their oppression anymore. It will not be renewed after 2027. We will not do the work, which will involve middleman to get bandwidth in 4-5-6 slabs. That demand will be met. In particular, the issues related to BTRC will be resolved soon without any delay. It may be noted that, a networking workshop is going on in Cox's Bazar by the Internet Service Providers Association of Bangladesh (ISPAB) and in collaboration with the ICT Business Promotion Council. The second day of the four-day conference is being held simultaneously on Saturday and training on juniper and microtic networking is underway. 6 expert networking engineers from home and abroad are imparting training. The inaugural function was presided over by the ISPAB President Imdadul Haque. Senior Vice President Saiful Islam Siddique, Vice President Md. Anwarul Azim, Joint Secretary General Md. Abdul Qayyum Rashed, Mohammad Anwar Hossain, Treasurer Md. Asaduzzaman, Director Sakif Ahmed, Mahbub Alam, Md. Zakir Hossain, AM Kamal Uddin Ahmed Selim, Fouad Muhammad Sharfuddin and Md. Nasir Uddin were present on the inaugural program. Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce and BPC Coordinator Md.
